Musings on Southeast Asian Cities
The Blog
The blog was first inaugurated on 4 February 2017 after years of hesitations. The momentum which pushes the birth of this blog is exactly captured by this English idiom 'damned if you do, damned if you don't'. This blog aims to provide an intellectual space for myself (for now) dedicated to the discussion and education of issues related to urban planning in Southeast Asia and beyond.
The Author
Dear visitors,
I am Lee Wen Hao, born and bred in Ipoh, and graduated from Master of Urban and Regional Planning in July 2017. I am now dedicating my time once a week or two on this blog, sharing my thoughts and travels on urban and regional planning in Southeast Asia and beyond. Coming from Malaysia, I was nurtured to appreciate the fact that cultures in this region have always been blurring, intersecting, overlapping, and multilayered. The varied urban forms in this region reflects cultural hybridity at its best. While it is important to understand the past and present of urban planning in this region, I wonder perhaps it is more important to ask the question 'how should the future typical cities of Southeast Asia look like?', as its socio-economics performance moves forward rapidly.
I am currently moving this blog away from being a personal blog to one that is contributed by several close friends of mine. I wish you would enjoy our musings on Southeast Asia.
